Framework Aims
This research resource aims to help researchers make assumptions, limitations, and applicability more explicit, so they can make and communicate more robust and proportionate research decisions.
Its use can help researchers consider assumptions and limitations consistently and early in the research process, informing research design and future research directions.
Using the Framework
The framework can be used in the early stages of research, when initiating collaborations, and when preparing funding applications. Use the levels to guide your response. The levels can be used either to select a response or to structure reflection.
Acknowledgement
This framework was developed by a team of professionals, academics and researchers of the Department of Computer Science, with support from MPLS Research Culture Fund Award. Contributions from the MPLS Librarian and the Research Practice Coordinator at Oxford e-Research are also gratefully acknowledged.
Disclaimer
This framework is intended to promote reflection and support the development of more inclusive research practices. Depending on the nature and scope of the research, some questions may overlap or address related considerations. Users are encouraged to apply the framework flexibly and use the questions that are most relevant to strengthen and refine their research.
Living Document
This framework is a living document and will continue to be reviewed, refined, and developed in response to feedback, emerging evidence, and evolving research practices.
